Bikes: Benavides wins the stage and caresses a victory

Kevin Benavides (Honda CRF450) got his third stage win in Desafío Guaraní upon winning Stage 4 and can almost feel the victory in his hands. However, tomorrow he will have to keep concentrated in the final kilometers of one of the hardest Dakar Series in the last times.

The Overall leader again had an outstanding performance in a stage and unquestionably won today. Making the most of the problems in his rivals’ machines, he is getting away in the Overall and has almost one hour advantage over the second, Martín Duplessis (Kawasaki KLX450), who had problems today and lost much ground.

Without Javier Pizzolito (Honda CRF450) in the race – who could not start due to electrical problems in his bike – Benavides ruled the stage from start to finish. The only rider who was able to get a little closer in times was David Casteu (KTM450), who finished 7.53  from the winner.

“It was a nice stage.  Today I felt really well, quite confortable. I liked the stage a lot. It had sections with stones, others with sand, mud, a great variety of grounds.  I tried to take care of the bike and to pay attention not to go off the road so as to tune my navigation”, the Honda South American rider said.

Now, the Argentinean rider is leading the Overall with a total time of 18:02.09, 54.48 faster than Duplessis, who was considerably delayed today but was able to complete the stage. Pablo Rodríguez (Kawasaki KLX450) is third, 2:29.28 form the leader.
